A few years back, when John Borland and I were writing our book, we hung out quite a bit in a gaming cafe in San Francisco. Actually, it wasn't much of a cafe. It was more like a big room with lots of computers -- and darkened windows to keep the glare of the screen.

Michael Feldman received a few raised eyebrows when he first talked about opening a gaming center in North Bethesda, where players could come to play video games on PCs and home game systems like the Xbox 360.

Team X3O - Examiner News Article - September 2007

The Washington DC Examiner (Examiner.com) did a news article about Team X3O and the World Cyber Games 2007 U.S. and National Finals.

Quote from the article:
"'I played baseball in high school and college, but I injured my hand after being hit with a pitch while batting,' said Bell, an assistant manager at the X3O Gaming Center. 'When I couldn't play anymore, I was frustrated. I'm a real competitive person, and I found a way to fill that missing hole in my life through gaming.'" - Kathleen Miller

Girl Gamers at X3O - NBC 4 News - May 2007

NBC 4 News came out and did a print/video piece on the rise of Girl Gamers across the country. They filmed at X3O Gaming Center in Rockville, MD as well as asked Michael Feldman, President of X3O some questions about Girl Gamers.

Quote from Print Article:
"According to the Entertainment Software Association, about 23 percent of gamers are boys under the age of 18. They are easily outnumbered by women over the age of 18 at 30 percent.

The trend is apparent at X3O Emerging Technologies gaming center where woman of all ages are showing up, many with their children.

X3O Takes Gaming... - The Washington Post - June 2005

The Washington Post came out and did an article on the Gaming Center shortly after it opened in May 2005.

"The first X3O center, which opened in May, is a modern space at the corner of a strip mall. Twenty-three personal computers line sloping walls painted a deep blue and lime green. Couches and oversized beanbags provide resting spots for spectators, while the gamers sit in cushy executive-style chairs.
